100 Years of Badal Sircar

An international theatre seminar on “Badal Sircar, the imprints of Our Third Theatre” was held today (15 July) celebrating the birth centenary of Indian dramatist and theatre director Badal Sircar, who created the Third Theatre movement, bring the theatre closer to the audience and addressing issues of social inequality.

The hour-long discussion was organized by Naihati Rangasena and moderated by its Creative Director Dhrupad Ghosh; with Piyal Kariyawasam, Lecturer, University of Visual & Performing Arts, Colombo 🇱🇰; Souravi Roy, Theatre Activist, Hyderabad Sudrka, Hyderabad 🇮🇳; and Prem Chand Paandey, Theatre Artist, Shilpee Theatre, Kathmandu 🇳🇵, discussing Sircar’s influence, both across the subcontinent and within their own theatre engagements.
