
Explore ‘Avaaz’ for an exclusive edition of contemporary Sri Lankan literature in Sinhala and Tamil, translated into Pakistani languages. This includes five poems by Packiyanathan Ahilan, Eric Illayappaarachchi, Nillanthan, A. Sankari (Sitralega Maunaguru), and Ajith Thilakasena, as well as a short story by Piyal Kariyawasam, translated to Urdu, Majhi Punjabi, and Shahpuri, with the original texts in Sinhala and Tamil presented alongside.
It is facilitated by Hammad Rind, the editor of Avaaz, who also spearheaded the translation process. The Majhi translation is by Rabia Malik. Farah Ali and Nadir K Feroz, are the Editors-in-Chief and founders of Lakeer, where Avaaz is housed.
Sivamohan Sumathy, Geetha Sukumaran, and Shash Trevett’s bridge translations (from Tamil to English) formed the basis for these Pakistani language versions. The Sinhala works were translated into English by the guest editor of Chapter Two, Gaya Nagahawatta.
